Today marks one year since Russia’s brutal and unjustified full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. It also marks one year of incredible courage and sacrifice displayed by the Ukrainian people who, together with the United States and our allied democracies, have said “no” to Russia’s war of aggression, and “no” to dictatorship and despotism.
The United States stands with Ukraine for as long as it takes. We are ensuring that the brave Ukrainian government and people have the financial, humanitarian and security assistance they need to defend our shared ideals: freedom, democracy, and sovereignty.
We condemn President Putin’s brutal war of choice. Russia’s aggression is not only killing innocent Ukrainians and destroying Ukraine. Russia’s full-scale invasion is also hurting the rest of the world: including Cuba. Energy, food, and fertilizer now cost more for everyone– including for the Cuban people.
The United States and our freedom-loving allies will continue to support Ukraine, oppose Russia’s brutal aggression, and advocate for those who resist aggression, autocracy, and dictatorship.
