U.S. Embassy Havana on USCIS announcement

U.S. Embassy Havana
Media Note
Havana, Cuba
December 12, 2018

Please note that U.S. Embassy Havana remains open.

American citizens have access to the full range of consular services at U.S. Embassy Havana.

As has been in effect for some time now, the Embassy is not issuing nonimmigrant visas, except for life-threatening emergencies.  Cuban citizens remain welcome to apply for nonimmigrant visas, including renewals, at any visa-processing U.S. Embassy or Consulate outside of Cuba.

The formal closure of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Havana Field Office has had no effect on current Embassy operations. USCIS transfer to Mexico City was an administrative decision.  All immigrant visa operations for Cuban citizens will continue to be processed by the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana, as has been since April 1, 2018.

The U.S. Embassy in Havana is the final, undisputable source on our own operations. For further information, please visit our website at cu.usembassy.gov and social media channels (Facebook and Twitter) at @USEmbCuba.

We appreciate the understanding and support of the Cuban public.
