Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda Travels to Havana

A U.S. delegation led by Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy visited Havana, March 24-26.

The delegation met with the Vice Minister of Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, along with other officials from the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment. They also had the opportunity to discuss telecommunications issues with officials at the Cuban Telecommunications Company ETECSA, the University of Information Science and the Technical Institute José Antonio Echeverría.

These meetings took place in a positive atmosphere that focused on the development of telecommunications and internet connections between our two countries. Expanding internet access in order to support the free flow of information to and among the Cuban people is a critical focus of the President’s new policy.
